Wildlife

Kennedy’s Pond is home to an abundant and varied amount of wildlife. The shallow water and muddy bottom are particularly suitable for waterfowl and herons. There are hundreds of species of birds in the area, the perfect environment for bird watching or nature photography. The spring and fall are a wonderful time of year to spot migrating flocks of ducks and a family of swans. Other wildlife include fish, turtles, frogs, muskrats, and the occasional beaver. Coyotes, foxes, deer, opossums, groundhogs, and raccoons have also been spotted in the areas around the pond.

Recreation

Kennedy’s Pond offers a variety of recreational activities including fishing, kayaking or canoeing, birdwatching, nature photography, and ice skating. The Old Rifle Range also provides access to hiking trails along the east side of the pond. We hope to restore the pond to its former life as a premiere swimming spot for the community.
